AI Mic Quality Checker by oto uses an AI model based on MOS (Mean Opinion Score) to estimate how your microphone sounds on a 1.0–5.0 scale. It is designed for calls, streaming, and content creation.
How can I improve my MOS score?
- Use a dedicated USB or XLR microphone instead of a built-in laptop mic.
- Record in a quiet room and keep the mic 15–30cm from your mouth.
- Turn off fans and AC, and use a pop filter if possible.

Is my audio used for AI training?
Your recording is used to compute your MOS score, and only when you opt in it may be used anonymously to improve our audio AI models.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The test runs in your browser using your device microphone. Just allow mic access when prompted.
Will this tell me which microphone to buy?
The tool measures how your current setup sounds. You can try different mics, rooms, and settings to compare scores before you decide what to use on oto.
